ADK (Windows 10 version 1809)  Athough we've upgraded Windows to 1909, the ISO that we installed from is the 1809 ISO therefore we need the 1809 ADK files.

Password Recovery Options

The two boot disks I used in class to change the Local Administrator's Password are:   CD100627 and Trinity Rescue Disk

CD100627 - this is the ISO I used in class.  It's no longer on the site that I downloaded it from.
This is the site I originally downloaded the CD100627 from:Pogostick.    The site is a bit 'messy' and the author has different versions of the disk.  Scroll down to the 'download' section and you'll find the versions of the disk that are still on the site.   Somewhere on this page the author also walks you through the process of using the disk.

Trinity Rescue Kit home page.

The Utilman method listed at the bottom of this block can also be used to change a local administrator's password on a stand alone machine or member server.  I've tested it on Windows 7, 8.1, 10, 2008R2 and 2012R2; 2016 & 2019 it worked for all.

To Change the DSRM Password:  If you are able to login as the Domain Administrator use the ntdsutil  command as the Domain Admin. (The link references 2003 but it works on 2008 and 2012as well.)   If you are not able to login as the domain administrator, you can use one of the Linux boot disks listed above to reset the DSRM password.

The two methods I used in class to change the domain administrator's password:  DSRM and ISO/utilman.

DSRM   You do need to boot the server in DSRM mode therefore before beginning this process you need to know the DSRM password.   The site includes instructions 2003 server as well as a link to the srvany files.  I've been successful with this on Windows 2003, 2008, 2008R2 and Windows 2012R2 domain controllers.
(Evidently the link to the srvany files doesn't work on that site:  you can download them here:  srvany)
OS CD and Utilman This method uses the Operating System CD and a utility called Ultilman.exe to reset the domain administrator's password.  The article refers to a windows 2008 Domain Controller.  I've tested this on 2008, 2008R2 and 2012R2 and 2016 - it worked for all.     It can also be used to reset the local account passwords on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows 2008R2 Windows 2012 & 2016.

Note:  If you don't have an OS CD you could also boot with a Linux boot disk to get to the utilman file.

DHCP

The below link refers to Windows 2012R2 but the process is the same  2019 therefore  these are still valid resources.

Also, refer to chapter 20 from the Windows 2012 textbook.  An electronic version is available in the left navigation pane.
